Just work Already!

It it so much to ask that I hire employees to work and do their jobs. I really do not appreciate having to pick up the slack for anyone anymore. I am working just has hard as anyone else if not more.  I am running the business working over 12 hour days and I just want employees who appreciate their jobs and want to work. It just seems that employees are always complaining about not having enough money, working too hard, and just wanting to get off to go fishing.  When it's slow they complain about not having any money, then when it gets busy they want time off. Why?? Once summer hits, this is when they can make the most money and when I need them the most!  For some reason my employees have taken up fishing this season, so they find every excuse to leave work together mind you and let me tell you this that they do not answer their work phones once they have ran their last call or think they did.  So I end up having calls that need to be ran and struggle getting them ran. I had 4 employees today submit time off requests for July.  Okay, this is when I need my employees the most for the summer and not to mention it's when they make the most money out of the year, and all they want to do is escape the heat!  Hello this is our business to be in the heat. We are a service company so let's enjoy the work when it's here.  We do everything to keep our employees busy, even when it's slow, so when we need you..... please just work!!  I am getting really tired of hearing their excuses especially about paying their bills, struggling, but yet when we are busy all they try to do is get done to go to the lake to go fishing.

Just know this....... I am hiring people who want to work!  And guess what????  It's working. I am getting some new employees that want to work and actually are doing a great job!  Whoo hoo.... Thank you to those employees who show up to work to work and are respectuful to the ones you work with.  Trust me, you are noticed.  Keep up the good work!

What's up with excuses these days! Everyone seems to have one. Employees are giving excuses for not coming to work, for staying home, blaming their employer for something! What is our society turning in to? I know for me, everyone is so drained by what is being said on talk radio, the news, and by the media in general.  The economy is afraid to spend money which has a direct impact on both employees and their employers. Employee's are looking for a stable society and economy so they can work and go home to their families. Instead the media is making people frustrated and stressed.  When employee's moral goes does so the employee's productivity. It's extremely difficult when employees are surrounded by negativity every where they go or turn. I have learned that despite everything that is in the media, I stay positive for myself and the people I am surrounded by. The only way to be successful is having a good attitude and not let others bring you down.  Everyone is suffering in their own way right now because lets face it everyone is effected by what is going on whether your salary has decreased, you can't pay your mortgage, stock is down, your 401k is down, but I look at the end result.  I have my family and my health so I am spending more time with them.  What is more important than that these days.  It's always been important but it seems we loose site of what's in front of us.  Sometimes it takes hard time to realize what you have is just materialistic. When you are happy, it's contagious just like laughter and it spreads.  Be positive and surround yourself around others with the same attitude and you will see how much this will change your life- that what's up with me!

What's up with finding a job! Did you know that most people lie on their resume? Did you know that employers are looking for good employees but can't find them?  They are searching Monster and Careerbuilders as much as you are posting your resume.  It is said by a lot of recruitment agencies that most people posting to these engines are not getting any responses.  So what do you do? If you go to agencies they have to like you in order for them to even want to place you or get an interview with their prospective companies.  It's a misconception that if you go to these agencies that they will find you a job.  That is not true.  They must like you and want to put their reputation on the line.  They usually get a kick back from the company so they need to believe in you. It's hard for applicants and employers these days to find one another and to find a good match.  My recommendation is keep looking, keep posting, keep interviewing and take the advice of what's others are saying to you. It's important to keep polishing that resume! Eventually you'll get it right and someone will call or better yet hire you!  Good luck. You will find a job just stay positive.
